I do not conform to anything that is the slightest bit 'the norm' or 'the dominant.' I am quick to question anything that is 'a given' or anything that appears to be a 'just because -' It is part of my analysis of the world. I am not pessimistic, just inquisitive and always on the quest for the multiple truths that make up the world.
Sometimes a little bit of full disclosure can be a big help. You know, so we could go to the other Masjid. Don’t get me wrong, I love Taraweeh as much as the next person in the first row, but sometimes, it seems like the Imam is going for a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. You know the type of Taraweeh I’m talking about. The one where we do Surat Al-Baqara in 2 Rak’ahs. And more people are crying from pain than piety. That one.
